Space Grants

In order to grow our community beyond just who we know and who they know, The Flea offers free space to support select mission-aligned artist and/or producers and their projects.

We provide up to one (1) week of free space in one of our three (3) theaters, depending on the needs of the project. With the rare exception, the free space is in either The Pete or Siggy Theaters.

The space can only be used for rehearsals and workshop showings. Space will not be granted for ticketed performances, fully-produced shows, or work that requires crew heads, large scenic installation, or multi-day techs.

WHAT THIS IS

WHAT WE SEEK

The Flea welcomes space grant proposals from Black, brown, and queer producers and/or lead artists that:

  • resists status quo thinking/binaries/moralizing

  • uses humor or absurdity to invite audience into deep consideration

  • asks for virtuosity from its performers and interpreters

  • centers experimental art by Black, brown, and queer artists

Ideally, your project is in an early stage of development, or at a place where concentrated time to work out an idea or concept is needed.
