New Camerata Opera presents Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia. Directed by Brittany Goodwin, this rendering of the tragic story will confront the harsh reality of a woman’s experience with rape, suppression, and being silenced by men. These elements of voicelessness resonate particularly loudly in this #MeToo era. The role of Lucretia will be sung by Allison Gish, and played by deaf actress Amelia Hensley who will use American Sign Language to address the element of not being heard that is at the heart of the story.. Maestro Justin Bischof leads the Modus Opera Orchestra in the performance of this groundbreaking score.
