iNSIDE Out: Imagined Times

Talea Ensemble’s iNSIDE Out Series seeks to create participatory environments that foster engaged listening and personal connection to great works of cutting-edge contemporary music. In these events the audience is an equal participant, joining the performers in musical exploration and creative discussion to uncover personal truths surrounding how and why we listen to the music of our time. No musical experience necessary, open ears and open minds required.

When we experience a piece of music fully, our sense of time transforms to an imagined time. Our heart beats and deep breaths, alarm clocks and late trains, recede as we become alert to the cycles and rhythms of a new musical world. The creation of musical flow, a succession of sonic events that can achieve perfect flux or perfect stasis, opens us up to new possibilities for perceiving the world. Join Talea as we explore works that create bold new worlds of musical time through their striking and evocative settings.
