Jim Simpson


Founder and Artistic Director of the Flea Theater 1996-2015.  A child actor in his native Honolulu, Jim performed in musicals with John Raitt, Theodore Bikel and Jane Powell. Jim also starred in numerous episodes of the original Hawaii 5-0. As a teenager, he worked with Jerzy Grotowski in Wroclaw, Poland and he holds degrees from Keio University in Tokyo, Boston University School for the Arts and the Yale Drama School. Credits include Bad Penny (Obie award), the Kabuki play Benten Kozo (Obie Award) The Guys (National Board of Review excellence) Nixon’s Nixon, Chopin in Space, Christopher Walken’s Elvis play Him, Baal, Life is a Dream, Thirty Six Dramatic Situations, Thomas Bradshaw’s Dawn, Kate Robin’s The Light Outside and a number of plays by A.R. Gurney including Mrs. Farnsworth.
