A member of the bar since 1965, Douglas Liebhafsky most recently (from 2011 through 2014) served New York State as a Volunteer Assistant Attorney General. From 2005 through 2010, Mr. Liebhafsky was a Special Assistant District Attorney for New York County, assigned to the Major Economic Crimes Bureau. Mr. Liebhafsky retired at the end of 2004 as a partner of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, where he had a broad and varied litigation practice for 35 years. Mr. Liebhafsky is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and has twice served on the Association’s Judiciary Committee, which investigates the qualifications of judicial and prosecutorial candidates. A graduate of Harvard College and the NYU Law School, Mr. Liebhafsky served as Law Clerk to Hon. Warren Burger on the U.S. Court of Appeals in the District of Columbia and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Manhattan before joining the Wachtell Lipton firm.
